Big Voices and Little Voices

Friday May 30th

This event will feature a day workshop in collaboration with Opera Scholars Australia conducted by Mei Wah Chan for students at rural primary schools. The students will then have the opportunity to perform a cameo in the main Opera in the Country performance that evening. Young people from country areas get to be involved in opera in a fun and interactive way and then get to be dazzled by the “big singers”! Members of the community will be treated to a performance featuring four emerging opera singers and the accomplished pianist Alex Byrne.

Cabaret Songs in the Bush

Saturday July 5th, 5pm

A moody, musical evening in the beautiful bush setting of Rushworth. This performance will feature a programme of operatic crossover repertoire with a focus on cabaret songs. A stunning night with four passionate emerging opera singers who have a zeal for this kind of repertoire, pianist Alex Byrne, and the expressive double bassist Charlotte Scanlan.

Opera in the Country Christmas

December 12th & 13th 6.30Pm

Opera in the Country returns for a joyful weekend of music, celebrating the special role that music plays in Christmas celebrations. Join us for an uplifting concert featuring the exceptional talents of emerging opera singers Olive Cullen, Lily Flynn, Nicholas Matters, Charlotte Goode, and Matthew Duffy, joined by the brilliant pianist Ronan Apcar and classical double bassist Charlotte Scanlan.

Delight in a beautifully curated program of Christmas favourites, from timeless carols such as O Holy Night and Angels We Have Heard on High, to festive operatic classics like Ave Maria and excerpts from Handel’s Messiah. The program also features modern favourites including Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, glorious instrumental moments from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker, and virtuosic double bass solos.
